As a memorial for the conductor who was mainly responsible for bringing The Cleveland Orchestra in to worldwide fame, we present the Blossom Festival concert that was being given and recorded when word of Szell’s death was received. The concert was conducted by then Principal Guest Conductor, Pierre Boulez, who told the members of the Orchestra of Szell’s death following the concert.
