1879 first performance of Dvorák’s String Quartet No. 10 Op 51 in Berlin by the Joachim Quartet; sometimes nicknamed the ‘Slavonic’ quartet.

1887 Sigmund Romberg – Austro-Hungarian composer (d.1951); best known for his operettas like The Student Prince (1924), The Desert Song (1926) and The New Moon (1928); spent most of his adult life in the United States.

1925 Mikis Theodorakis – Greek songwriter and composer (95 years old); wrote scores for the films Zorba the Greek (1964), Z (1969), and Serpico (1973); Greece's best-known living composer.

1935 Peter Schreier – German tenor and conductor (died December 25, 2019); during his singing career (he retired in 2005), in performances of Bach's Oratorios, he would often combine the roles of Evangelist and conductor.

1969 Joel Fan – American pianist (51 years old); known for his work with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Project, as well as his solo virtuosity and eclectic repertoire.
