June 27, 2016 (Cleveland) – Over the past two months, three regional associations have honored ideastream properties with more than 20 awards including regional Emmy awards and Ohio Associated Press Media Editors Awards and the 2016 All Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards.

On Saturday, June 18, ideastream took home nine Emmys in six categories from the Lower Great Lakes Chapter Emmy® Awards ceremony. While the highly acclaimed Violins of Hope documentary will be eligible for review next year, two related productions (The Cleveland Orchestra: Violins of Hope and Ideas: Violins of Hope) won Emmys. You can find a complete list of these Emmy winners here.

Earlier this month, the Press Club of Cleveland awarded WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN five 2016 All Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards. Awards of note include the radio documentary “Our Land: A Conversation about Community Policing” by Tony Ganzer, first place radio show for "Sound of Ideas: Syrian Refugees," and on-going coverage of the Tamir Rice shooting and aftermath. The Statehouse News Bureau, managed by ideastream on behalf of Ohio’s public broadcasting stations, won three Excellence in Journalism Awards as well, including a prize for in-depth coverage of Election Day 2015. All winners of this prestigious Press Club award are listed here.

Not only did 90.3 WCPN win seven Ohio Associate Press Media Editors Awards, but that total includes its General Excellence 2015 Award. These annual awards represent the best work among Ohio’s reporters, editors, photographers and illustrators.

“It means a lot to us to be recognized among our peers and called out in such a talented and competitive industry,” said Jerry Wareham, President and CEO of ideastream. “We are proud of the work we have produced so far and eager to continue creating content that responds to our community."
