March 25, 2016 (Cleveland, OH) – ideastream, Advance Ohio, Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer present the next installment of Cleveland Connects: The First 2,000 Days, sponsored by PNC, on Monday, April 4, from 6–7:30 p.m. The Cleveland Connects: The First 2,000 Days initiative is a year-long exploration of critical issues in early childhood development, as well as ways to improve the lives of children in Cleveland.
Open to the public, this community conversation features a keynote presentation by Eboni Howard, Ph.D., an early childhood specialist and managing researcher at the American Institutes for Research. Joining her will be a panel of Northeast Ohio teachers and early childhood education experts. Moderated by Mike McIntyre, host of The Sound of Ideas ® on 90.3 WCPN ideastream, the panel will explore the importance of early brain development and approaches, such as quality Pre-K programs, that can impact a child in those critical first five years.
Open to the public, the community can participate by registering at tinyurl.com/first2000. In addition, Cleveland Connects: The First 2,000 Days will be live-streamed at ideastream.org/clevelandconnects. Follow the event on Twitter with the hashtag #cleconnects, and email questions to connects@ideastream.org. This program will be recorded for broadcast that evening, April 4, at 9 p.m. on 90.3 WCPN and at 9 p.m. on WVIZ/PBS; and will air Tuesday, April 5, at 10 p.m. on the Ohio Channel. Cleveland Connects presents engaging dialogue, community events and multiple media coverage with the goal of illuminating and advancing solutions on topics important to our region. Topics for each Cleveland Connects focus on key issues facing the region as identified by The Plain Dealer’s editorial agenda and results from The Listening Project, an ongoing effort where ideastream invites Northeast Ohio residents to describe what matters most to them and their communities.
