First 2000 Days: Food Deserts & Childhood Nutrition

The first five years of a child's life are mission critical in setting them up for future academic and life success.  Nutrition is a big part of building a strong foundation.

Ideastream is collaborating on a year-long project called "The First 2000 Days" which explores the issues critical to childhood development with Cleveland-dot-com and The Plain Dealer and sponsored by PNC.

Check out Cleveland.com where you will find a series of videos and slideshows aimed at strategies for getting picky eaters to try and like more healthy foods.

But for moms living in some Cleveland neighborhoods--that task is even more difficult because they live in what some call a food desert--a low income area that does not have a full-service grocery store within easy access of people.
