City leaders around the country are reacting to President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Accord. In Cleveland, Mayor Frank Jackson today posted a video to the city’s Facebook page supporting the international climate agreement. He said the city remains committed to its goal of creating an economy that also reduces greenhouse gas.
“I know that there is this vision of creating this green city on a blue lake,” Jackson said. “At the end of the day, it’s about people and the health of people and our environment. And we believe it’s completely compatible to be profitable and to do business in a healthy environment for people and not to pollute the environment and to create greenhouse gas emissions in a way that it causes climate change.”
Cleveland city council on Monday plans to introduce a resolution supporting the Paris climate accord, which aims to limit the rise in the Earth's temperature.
