An artistic, “experiential journey” through Cleveland is on the drawing board for the summer of 2022 as the CAN Triennial returns with its second, city-wide exhibition “You Are Here.”
Created as a local response to the Cleveland-based FRONT Triennial of international artists, the CAN Triennial featured 90 regional artists in the summer of 2018.
Northeast Ohio visual artists who reside in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Summit, Lake, Lorain, Medina, and Portage counties are eligible to apply via CANtriennial.org starting June 1.
A team of curators will put together more than a dozen exhibits inspired by the “You Are Here” theme surveying the local landscape with artworks that explore a sense of place and current ideas surrounding Northeast Ohio culture and politics, according to a news release.
Curators for the 2022 CAN Triennial include artists Darius Steward and Hector Castellanos-Lara as well as the Cleveland Museum of Art’s education art collection manager, Sabine Kretzschmar
The CAN Triennial goes on view at more than a dozen venues across Cleveland July through August 2022, after taking an extra year off due to the pandemic.
