Now that we are snowbound, more folks are warming to virtual arts options rather than venturing out into the elements. Here are five online arts events to enjoy this week from Northeast Ohio arts and cultural organizations.
Twelve Literary Arts
Cleveland youth writing organization Twelve Literary Arts has moved its monthly Open Mic Poetry Series online. Thursday, December 3, at 5:30 p.m., the virtual doors open for a program that features special performances from the fall youth fellowship cohort.
MidTown Cleveland
To celebrate the history of Cleveland's MidTown district, MidTown Mixtape presents a virtual screening of the new documentary, " Leo's Legacy," about the local music club Leo's Casino, Friday, December 4, at 7 p.m. Learn about the historic venue once located along Euclid Avenue that played host to Otis Redding, The Supremes and Dizzy Gillespie in the 60s and 70s.
Baldwin Wallace Music Theatre
Seniors from the Baldwin Wallace Music Theatre program continue to perform their senior recitals online this week, December 3- 6. Coming off a totally virtual production of the Tony-award-winning musical "Spring Awakening," the seniors show off their individual talents before graduation in the spring.
Cleveland Cinematheque
Since March, the Cinematheque has not only suspended its live in-person screenings it's also lost all the conversation that occurs before and after the movie. Tuesday, December 8, at 7 p.m., the Cinematheque's John Ewing hosts the online Zoom session " You Talkin' to Me" to gab about recent screenings.
Massillon Museum
If you have family recipes or antiques passed down from generation to generation, learn how these were created and used during their day in a virtual event hosted by the Massillon Museum. Curator Baily Yoder leads a Material Culture Workshop Saturday, December 5, at 2 p.m. via Zoom.
