The Sound of Applause Headlines New Changes Coming to WCPN

December 31, 2015 (Cleveland, OH) – Beginning Monday, Jan. 4, The Sound of Applause, hosted by Dee Perry, can be heard on 90.3 WCPN ideastream each weekday morning during Morning Edition (6 to 9 a.m.); midday, as part of Here & Now (noon to 2 p.m.); and on the drive home in All Things Considered (4 to 8 p.m.). Throughout the day, WCPN will celebrate the visual and performing arts, explore cultural trends and examine current events through an artistic lens. But more than that, Northeast Ohio will enjoy the velvet voice of Dee Perry the entire midday as host throughout the afternoon.

Dee’s command of the afternoon leads to another award-winning interviewer, Terry Gross, whose program Fresh Air will be broadcast on 90.3 in its new timeslot, from 2 to 3 p.m., each weekday afternoon.

“We’re excited to introduce this new program schedule that will make locally produced arts and culture programming available to a larger audience by expanding into multiple day-parts,” said Maxie C Jackson III, WCPN Station Manager. “Additionally, we are enhancing the evening and weekend schedule with a variety of new jazz programs—a different one every night.”

In other changes that begin today, 90.3 is introducing newer public radio programs focusing on entertainment, storytelling and investigative journalism, and the station is also taking a deeper dive into jazz programming. New-to-WCPN programs include Freakonomics Radio, Thursdays at 8 p.m.; The New Yorker Radio Hour, Saturdays at 4 p.m.; and Reveal, from The Center for Investigative Reporting and PRX, Sundays at 4 p.m. And, a different jazz program will be featured every weeknight on 90.3 at 10 p.m.
