Biden Decides Not to Run. Some Local Dems Agree with Decision.

Shortly after Vice President Joe Biden’s announcement today that he would not be running for president, some Democrats in Ohio praised the VP for his decision to focus on the remaining 14 months of his term. Senator Sherrod Brown was glad to hear that Biden decided not to run.

"I think it would have been hard on him and his family. You know he will still comment on public issues. I think he can devote his next eighteen months or next fourteen months, I guess, to being vice president of the Unites States. I think that's good for the country and I think it's good for him," Brown said.

Fellow Democrat Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan said Biden would have been a "powerful candidate"  but "respected his choice" to spend time with his family.

In his Rose Garden speech, the Vice President said he and his family had been grieving over the death of his son Beau, who died of brain cancer in May.
