The housing shortage isn't just a coastal problem anymore, according to the nonprofit research group, Up for Growth, which came out with a study this summer tracking housing underproduction across the US. Up for Growth is made up of affordable housing and industry groups.

According to the study, which compared the housing stock from 2012 to 2019, every major Ohio city's underproduction is worsening, especially Columbus, which has had the most population growth in recent years.

This hour on the "Sound of Ideas," we're going to talk to national and local experts about this study, what is the future of Cleveland's housing stock, and why having affordable housing in a city is important for economic growth.

Also this hour, a new documentary short looks back at the importance of Hough Bakeries.
