The MetroHealth System got a major gift in its stocking this year, a $42 million donation from Hunting Valley residents JoAnn and Bob Glick.
The donation is the largest in the hospital system's history, and it's the third largest gift from individuals to a public hospital in U.S. history.

Most of the money will create the JoAnn and Bob Glick Fund for Healthy Communities. That will go towards existing programs that promote the health of underserved communities, with a focus on women and children.
The other $2 million will support nurses as leaders in improving the health of Cleveland's underserved communities.

In recognition of their donation, MetroHealth's new main hospital on West 25th Street will be named the MetroHealth Glick Center.

The Glicks join The Sound of Ideas to talk about their contribution, and their in-depth collaboration with MetroHealth. Also present to talk about this major gift, and how it will integrate with the hospital's mission, is Kate Brown, Chief Development Officer with The MetroHealth System and President of The MetroHealth Foundation.

Also this hour, we talk to local entrepreneurs about how they have had to adapt their business models to bring gifts to the community this holiday season. And, we'll learn how to keep older adults engaged during the holidays, when many may feel isolated.
