The Regional Transit Authority has designated its buses and stations as Safe Places, especially for victims of human trafficking, and trained its employees on how to spot signs of trauma and abuse. Other organizations like the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, and Women Helping Women based out of Cinicinnati also offer training. Hospitality workers, service industry employees, and cosmetologists all undertake some form of training. We hear about the efforts being made to stay vigilant in the face of these issues.
Also on the show today, Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley, a Cleveland Heights native and former United States Ambassabor. She was ambassador to the Republic of Malta and the first woman to lead the U.S. consulate in Saudi Arabia. She's now ambassador in residence at Oberlin College, we ask her about the state of U.S. diplomacy.
