Can we plan our way to safer roads and highways? A new regional transportation plan led by the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency or NOACA aims to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries from traffic crashes by 50-percent by the year 2040. That's the long term goal. But in the short term what strategies can be employed to make the roads and highways safer for all users? We will sit down with local and statewide transportation experts and discuss areas of particular concern to planners including protecting bicyclists and pedestrians. Then, it is getting down to the wire for state lawmakers as a budget compromise has only days to come together.
