The Greater Cleveland Partnership contends that its study of taxes in Northeast Ohio, which shows a heavier tax burden here than in many peer regions, makes us less competitive. The Partnership told us recently on this show that it wants to spark a wide-ranging conversation about reigning in taxes. Zach Schiller, research director for Policy Matters Ohio, however, says the overall tax burden does not hurt competitiveness and says the way to raise necessary funds is to increase, rather than lower, taxes on the wealthy. Later, our weekly statehouse update, and then we'll meet illustrator and storyteller Karen Sandstrom.
