NewsDepth 2021-2022 | Episode 26

In this week's episode, we take a look back at what we missed over break: a new Supreme Court justice, a first for NASA, and a new diplomatic punishment for Russia at the United Nations.

Next, we crack open an egg-cellent story about the ancient Ukrainian tradition of pysanka.

Then, baseball is back! We cover a historic first on first base at San Francisco’s Oracle Park, and a new season – with a new name – in Cleveland.

Finally, we celebrate Earth Day by talkin’ trash – specifically, how one artist is using it to spread an environmental message.

United Nations (noun): An organization of countries established to promote international cooperation. It was founded after World War II, to prevent future conflict.

Abstain (verb): To choose not to do something.

Pagan (adjective): A blanket term for a religion that is outside of accepted Western religions, like Christianity and Judaism.

Greenhouse Gas (noun): A gas that can trap heat in Earth’s atmosphere, contributing to climate change.

Invasive Species (noun): An organism that is not native to a particular area, and can become overpopulated, often harming its new environment.

Aquifer (noun): An underground layer of rock that holds groundwater.

We tell you all about Earth Day, and now we’re wondering: How are you celebrating Earth Day?
