The drone found on White House grounds turned out to be innocent enough. No spying there. But the same can't be said for a banker in New York City.
Evgeny Buryakov was working in the New York Office of a Russian bank, but U.S. authorities allege that in truth, he was a Russian spy. Buryakov was arrested earlier this week by the FBI. But federal officials say they were unable to arrest two of Buryakov's co-conspirators, who no longer live in the U.S. and who both had diplomatic immunity because they officially worked for the Russian government.
Diplomatic immunity is a form of legal protection given to representatives of foreign nations that gives them safe passage to conduct their business in their host country.
The trio was accused of collecting information about American sanctions against Russia, and trying to recruit Americans to become Russia's spies.
