New details have emerged after a tense and scary scene in an Australian cafe on Monday.
A man entered the Lindt Chocolate Cafe in Sydney, Australia's most populous city, and held more than a dozen people hostage for 16 hours. The standoff ended with three fatalities, including the gunman.
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott called the man an extremist who "had a long history of violent crime". An extremist is a person who holds extreme political or religious views, especially one who advocates illegal or violent action.
