Dallas Nurses Ebola-Free, Released From Hospital

There are major developments in the battle against Ebola.

The second Texas nurse diagnosed with Ebola is now heading home. Amber Vinson, the Summit County Ohio nurse who was diagnosed with Ebola while working in Texas is now free of the virus. Vinson, who visited family in Tallmadge and Akron before she was diagnosed, was released from Emory Hospital in Atlanta Tuesday.

After nearly two weeks of treatment, doctors say she has recovered from the infection and is safe to return home. That came just days after Nina Pham, the first nurse who contracted Ebola, was released from another hospital.

But the releases come as New York City copes with its first case of the disease.

Many states are considering new policies on how to combat the disease. Illinois, New York, and New Jersey have implemented 21 day quarantine periods and other precautions for anyone who travels from the Ebola stricken countries in West Africa.
