Imagine having your parents drive you to school with no hands on the wheel. Well the car maker, Audi, now has the green light to start testing its driver-less cars in California-making that scenario closer to reality.
The company has already tested self-driving cars in Europe, and other U.S. states where testing is legal, including Nevada, Florida, and in Washington, D.C. Getting the California permit was important to Audi because it's home to the company's "electronics research lab," located in Silicon Valley. Google and Nissan each plan to have self-driving cars on the market in the next several years. Professors at Ohio State's Center for Automotive Research say they would like to see 'this' state legalize the vehicles, but there is no action toward that in the legislature, just yet.
