Luis Ortiz pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that he took bribes to help gamblers win bets placed on pitches he threw.

MLB said the limits were agreed to by sportsbook operators representing more than 98% of the U.S. betting market.

The Cleveland Guardians lost Game 1 of their American League Wild Card series against the Detroit Tigers, 2-1. All three of the series' potential games are in Cleveland.

Cleveland moved into sole possession of first place with a 5-1 victory over Detroit and became the first major league team to overcome a deficit of 15 1/2 games and take the lead in either division or league play, beating the Detroit Tigers 5-1 on Wednesday night.

When the Tigers get to Progressive Field on Tuesday, they will be trying to avoid suffering the worst collapse since baseball went to divisions in 1969.

Now trailing Detroit by just one game in the division, the Cleveland Guardians have a chance to complete the biggest comeback in the history of divisional play.

Major League Baseball is looking into possible involvement of Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz in gambling during games.
