The term “palliative care” is unfamiliar to many of us. But this poorly understood specialty of medicine is gaining traction for early use when it comes to caring for patients with serious or life threatening diseases, according to research published this month in the Annals of Palliative Medicine. Producer Kay Colby sat down with Rick Jackson to explain more about palliative care and its early integration into treatment plans for some cancer patients.
