The Cleveland Orchestra welcomes audiences back to Severance this week.

The fall arts season is back in full swing with many major arts groups like the Cleveland Orchestra, Karamu House and Great Lakes Theater welcoming back audiences.

Here are five arts opportunities for you to enjoy this week. For COVID-19 safety, they all require masks and most require proof of vaccination.

The Cleveland Orchestra

Franz Welser-Möst leads the Cleveland Orchestra at Severance in works by Strauss and Prokofiev. Cleveland favorite Alisa Weilerstein also performs Joan Tower's  "A New Day" for cello and orchestra Thursday, Oct.14, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 17, at 3 p.m.

Great Lakes Theater

William Shakespeare's "The Tempest" blows into the Hanna Theatre for Great Lakes Theater's return to the stage. Prospero, Ariel and Caliban are up to their old magic tricks Oct. 15 through Nov. 7.

Karamu House

August Wilson's classic "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" is on at Karamu House in the theater's first non-virtual production in a year and a half. Justin Emeka directs the story of the "Mother of the Blues" onstage now through Oct. 31.

Cleveland Ballet

Gladisa Guadalupe reinterprets the classic story of Don Quixote for the Cleveland Ballet onstage at Playhouse Square. This new rendition of the man from La Mancha's quixotic story is on at the Mimi Ohio Theatre Friday, Oct. 15, and Saturday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.

78th Street Studios

The October edition of the Third Friday Art Walk at 78th Street Studios takes place Friday, Oct. 15, from 5 to 9 p.m. To maintain social distancing the art walk is a ticketed event and requires attendees to wear a mask.
