Literary and Latino celebrations are on the agenda for this week's arts and culture scene in Northeast Ohio. Also one of Cleveland's top photographers pivots to local landscapes during the pandemic.

Roger Mastroianni's Long View of Cleveland

When Cleveland photographer Roger Mastroianni's shoots were canceled because of the pandemic, he used the free time to take long exposure images of the city. The results are on view by appointment at Foothill Galleries in Cleveland Heights.

Great Lakes African American Writers Conference

As part of Cleveland Book Week, the Great Lakes African American Writers Conference spotlights Deesha Philyaw, the author of the short story collection, "The Secret Lives of Church Ladies." Philyaw delivers the Langston Hughes Literary keynote address Saturday, October 2, at 11 a.m.

Cleveland Latino Restaurant Week

The Northeast Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce presents the 2021 Cleveland Latino Restaurant Week to highlight Latino-owned restaurants during Hispanic Heritage Month. Some of the participating restaurants include Blue Habanero, Hola Tacos, Barroco and Half Moon Bakery.

Dwight Yoakam

Grammy-award winning country musician Dwight Yoakam plays a night of his top 10 hits at the Canton Palace Theatre. Known for his music as well as his acting career, Yoakam shares his unique take on the Bakersfield sound Friday, October 1, at 8 p.m.

Porchestra Concert - Postponed

The Cozad-Bates House is the oldest pre-Civil War building in University Circle and known for its connection to the Underground Railroad. Members of the Cleveland Orchestra were scheduled to perform music of African American composers outside the house Sunday, October 3, at 3 p.m. Due to rain in the forecast it was rescheduled to Oct. 10 at 3 p.m.
