Science Cafe: Sewer-ology When we wash the dishes or flush a toilet, we send everything "down the drains," but where is "down the drain?" and what happens to the "used" water when it gets there? And can it ever be used again? Turning wastewater into a usable, nontoxic product is a science that's a little chemistry, a little biological engineering and a lot of yuck. Join us for Sewer-ology 101.

All the stuff you flush. The water washing down your driveway to the street drain on the curb. The check you write to pay your bill for “sewer service.” Where does it go?
