Science Cafe: Just How Do Batteries Work? Count up the number of things in your life that run on batteries. Your cordless phone, your cell phone, your bluetooth headset.... You get the idea, but most of us don't really know much about how batteries work -- nor do we appreciate how batteries have evolved to make today's portable electronic life possible. As part of our ongoing coverage of Cleveland's Science Cafe, we'll talk to a chemist and a consultant about the powerful science of batteries and what the next generation of batteries will be able to do.

Daniel Scherson, Case Western Reserve University, Department of Chemistry
