Transplant Games Set for Opening Ceremony in Cleveland

Today--an estimated 20 people will die while waiting for an organ transplant. That's according to LifeBanc which estimates that some 125,000 people in the U-S are currently waiting.  Someone new will join that waiting list every 10 minutes.  This weekend transplant recipients and donors will be in Cleveland for the Transplant Games of America.  It's a six-day sporting festival for those who have had transplants as well as living donors.  The games will bring in 6,000 athletes and spectators and is expected to bring millions into the local economy.

Bill Ryan, Executive Director, Transplant Games of America
Colleen Gerber, Two-time kidney recipient, Co-Manager for Team Ohio
Randy Oyaski, Double-lung recipient
