In 2020, The Battered Women's Shelter of Summit & Medina Counties served 9,019 individuals through its various services.
Last year, The Rape Crisis Center of Summit & Medina Counties assisted 832 victims, essentially ten thousand people all told.
These two organizations work in conjunction and have been doing so under the leadership of Terri Heckman, who's worked with those groups for the past 36 years.
Last week Heckman announced her retirement as CEO of the Battered Women's Shelter and Rape Crisis Center.
