Despite the popularity of libraries in general, funding has been on a downward trajectory for nearly a decade. In 2008, libraries received $418 million in state funding as part of its share of the General Revenue Fund.  Last year the number was $377 million.

In Governor Kasich's latest budget proposal, libraries stand to lose another $7 million next year.
