President Obama appointed Former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray last week to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. This agency will give payday lenders, shady mortgage brokers and abusive debt collectors a lot more scrutiny. Republicans still insist the President has no authority to make the appointment and say the agency lacks accountability.
