A giant of Northeast Ohio classical music has passed away. The Cleveland Orchestra has announced the passing of former conductor Louis Lane, who began his nearly 3-decade tenure in 19-47 when George Szell appointed him apprentice conductor. Lane rose through the ranks to resident conductor by the 19-70's. He also served as music director for The Akron Symphony Orchestra for more than twenty years, The Canton Symphony for 12 years, and artistic advisor and conductor at The Cleveland Institute of Music for more than 2 decades.
