Your Answers: Write a spooky short story!

Last episode, we learned about R.L. Stine, Ohio's own spooky children's author. Then we asked you to  send us a spooky short story. Less than five sentences, please!

“One day I was watching TV when I saw something run across the floor, so I tiptoed over and... MY cat jumped on me! She gave me a scare, but it went away.”

— Aurora from Berea-Midpark Middle School in Berea

“Once upon a time, there was a rat. The rat's name was Gem. She was in her bed when she heard a strange noise. She got out of bed to investigate. She went down the stairs, and she saw a huge shadow! She tried to creep back up to her bed, but the stair creaked when she stepped on it. The shadow came closer... then Gem saw what made the shadow. It was a gigantic spider! It grabbed her with its mandibles, and Gem was never seen again.”

— Kaia from Columbus Gifted Academy in Columbus

“Once, there was a scientist working on a potion that turned people into monsters, and he was testing it on a bug, and he dropped it and it landed on his foot and turned him into a monster! The End.”

— Charlotte from Valley View Elementary in Wadsworth

“I had a babysitter once. She had a big black wart on the left side of her nose. I asked her to check my closet for monsters. She told me nothing was in there. She was LYING! When she turned around the wart was now on the right!”

— Ell from Valley Elementary in Beavercreek

“Once upon a time, three kids went trick or treating. They went to every single house except for one. The kids walked up to the door and knocked on it. When they saw a turn of the lock, a wicked witch came out and scared them. They all went home and went under the covers in their beds.”

— Rocco from Independence Primary in Independence

“You walk into school on the last day, only to find out that your teacher gave you homework for the summer. AHHHHHHHHHHHH, that’s the worst surprise ever. The homework smells of bad grades and difficult problems. ‘Can't wait to finish this,’ you say.”

— Sahasra from East Woods Elementary in Hudson
