Your Answers: Who would you choose to go on a banknote?

Last week we met about the plan to replace Andrew Jackson with Harriet Tubman on the $20 note.

Then we asked you to  tell us about; who you would choose to go on a banknote?

Bonus points if you submit a drawing too! You can use  this worksheet to help! Rick will share some of your best letters in the next episode.

"If I were to choose someone to be on a banknote, it would be my mom, Ruth; because my mom helps take care of me and my pets. She helps me with everything I do! And if I get hurt, she helps me up, and sometimes she makes me laugh. My mom is not famous, but she's important to me. If I didn't have my mom, I couldn't do anything."

- Morgan from A.J. Jordak Elementary in Middlefield, Ohio

"If I could choose someone to go on a banknote I would chose Barack Obama because he played a big role in history and he was the first black president. So that is who I would choose to be on a banknote."

- Grace from East Woods Intermediate in Hudson

"I think Thomas Edison should be on one of our dollar bills. He was the pioneer of the mass use and distribution of electricity. Without him and other inventors, we would be stuck in the dark using candles. Let there be light."

- Zaiden from Berea Midpark Middle School in Middleburg Heights

"If I could choose someone to be on a banknote it would be Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The reason why is because she was an American icon. She was the second woman on the Supreme Court, which is the highest court in the US. She fought for racial equality for all, including African Americans. I would want her to replace the hundred dollar bill because even though Benjamin Franklin did some awesome things Ruth Bader Ginsburg did better. That is why I think Ruth Bader Ginsburg should be on a banknote."

- Alice from Mulberry Elementary in Milford

"I would choose Rosa Parks to go on a banknote because she had to go through discrimination and racism because she was black. Not only was she black, but she was also a woman, so it was extra hard for her. Also, she changed the world just by not giving up her seat on the bus!  And she got arrested too. That's who I want to be on a banknote."

-Mollie from Memorial Elementary in Brunswick

"I would put Martin Luther King Jr. on a banknote. I would choose him because he fought for all people to be equal peacefully. He is a great American and should be on a banknote."

- Zoe from Orrville Middle School in Orrville
