Petting Zoo: Rare Snowy Owl Makes Holiday Appearance

Snowy Owls typically live in tundras. The tundra is a flat, treeless Arctic region. The average winter temperature in the tundra is -30 degrees Fahrenheit compared to the summer average temperature between 37 and 54 degrees Fahrenheit.

Not only can the snowy owls withstand such cold temperatures, but they also have excellent eyesight and hearing! Snowy owls use their strong senses to catch their prey. They are the most active during dawn and dusk when they hunt for rabbits, mice, and other small mammals.
