Inbox: Name the New T-rex!

Last week we learned about a new T-rex. We asked you to name it based on its attributes. Here's what you came up with!

Rylee, Jefferson Elementary School in Jefferson: The name that I think would be good for this new species is Top torum. Here is how I created this name. First, I came up with top because this apex predator is at the top of the food chain. Second, in the last part of the apex predators name degrootorum there is the part torum, so I used that and put the two words together and got Top torum. That's the new name for this apex predator that is readable and makes sense to me and hopefully other people.

Dimitri, Buckeye Intermediate School in Medina: What I would name the T-rex would be Golden. I would choose Golden because, this T-rex was special and rare just like gold. And you can't find the same type of it very often.

Evelyn, Ayer Elementary School in Cincinnati: If I could I would name the new T-rex the Tea-rex. My sister loves tea and I love my sister. So if I could I would name it the Tea-Rex. I'm sure if the Tea-Rex were to be eating cookies they would need so tea. Also, I think if they could they would eat cookies because of their jaw structure.

Abby, Biomed Science Academy in Ravenna: I think the dinosaur should be called jagged-pex.  I think it should be called jagged-pex because in the NewsDepth video said the dinosaur had "long vertical teeth" so that is the Jagged part. For the "pex" part the reason I thought of "pex" is because of apex. Pex is short for apex.

Jonathan and Troy, Fort Meigs Elementary School in Perrysburg: I think that a brand new name for the new T-Rex could be “Baby-Rex.” I think this name would suit the new T-Rex because it is like the next generation of the T-Rex. It would also suit the new T-Rex because the fossils that have been discovered are small compared to the mighty T-Rex. These are some reasons that I think Baby-Rex should be the name of the new T-Rex!
