HAVING FRIENDS WHO ARE DIFFERENT IS IMPORTANT – BECAUSE WE CAN LEARN SO MUCH FROM THEM! AND LAST WEEK, WE ASKED YOU TO WRITE TO US ABOUT SOME
PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE WHO ARE DIFFERENT THAN YOU BECAUSE OF THEIR AGE.
WE ASKED: HOW OLD IS THE OLDEST PERSON YOU KNOW? AND MOST OF YOU – 65% -- SAID THAT YOU KNOW SOMEONE OVER 80 YEARS OLD! WOW! LET’S LEARN ABOUT
THE SENIORS IN YOUR LIFE NOW BY CHECKING OUT OUR INBOX!
CLAIRE FROM SHERWOOD ELEMENTARY SEEMS ENTERTAINED BY THE OLDER PEOPLE IN HER LIFE, WRITING: MY GREAT GRANDMA IS THE OLDEST PERSON I KNOW, BUT HER AND MY GRANDMA ARE BOTH FULL OF WISDOM AND WONDER. THEY HAVE THE BEST STORIES. FOR EXAMPLE, MY GRANDMA MARCHED IN ONE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.’S MARCHES
AND WAS THE FIRST WOMAN TO GRADUATE FROM XAVIER UNIVERSITY.
CASSANDRA FROM RUSHWOOD ELEMENTARY, ALSO WRITES ABOUT HER SPECIAL GRANDMA, SAYING: I KNOW SOMEONE OVER 70. IT IS MY GRANDMA. SHE IS SPECIAL TO ME BECAUSE SHE IS A CANCER SURVIVOR. EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS STILL IN THE HOSPITAL GETTING CHEMOTHERAPY, SHE STILL FOUGHT THROUGH IT. SHE IS THE NICEST
PERSON IN THE WORLD. SHE TAKES CARE OF ME WHEN MY PARENTS CAN'T AND SHE IS ALWAYS SO KIND.
TANNER SPANGLER FROM ANNA, OHIO LOOKS UP TO THE SENIOR IN HIS LIFE, TELLING US: THE OLDEST PERSON I KNOW IS 98 YEARS OLD. THIS PERSON IS A ROLE MODEL
BECAUSE SHE USED HER LIFE FOR GOOD, AND DOESN'T WASTE HER LIFE ON BAD. SHE IS MY FAVORITE PERSON AND THE PERSON THAT I RESPECT THE MOST.
MASON FROM GRILL ELEMENTARY KNOWS A TALENTED SENIOR: THE OLDEST PERSON I KNOW IS MY GRANDMA. SHE IS 76 YEARS OLD. ONE REASON MY GRANDMA IS SPECIAL IS BECAUSE SHE MAKES ME QUILTS. WHEN I WAS A BABY, MY GRANDMA MADE ME A VERY NICE QUILT. SOMETIMES MY GRANDMA MAKES ME VERY GOOD FOOD AND AMAZING COOKIES. THIS IS WHY MY GRANDMA IS SPECIAL TO ME.
CARSON FROM JACKSON CENTER KNOWS SOMEONE VERY OLD, TELLING US: THE OLDEST PERSON I KNOW IS 103. SHE IS MY GREAT-GRANDMA! SHE MEANS THE
WORLD TO ME BECAUSE SHE TAUGHT ME HOW TOO MAKE HER VERY GREAT MOLASSES COOKIES. THEY ARE WONDERFUL. I HOPE TO LIVE 103 YEARS LIKE HER,
AND TEACH MY GRAND KIDS A LOT, LIKE SHE DID!
WELL, THANKS CARSON! AND THANKS ALSO TO CLAIRE, CASSANDRA, TANNER, AND MASON FOR TELLING US ABOUT THE SPECIAL SENIORS IN YOUR LIFE. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU’RE LEARNING A LOT FROM THEM!
