Think you've seen it all? How about a cat that thinks he is a dog? Marley the cat walks on a leash, follows commands.... and even sits in a swing.
Kevin Rader has the story.
--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS--
NOTORIETY HAS COME LATE IN LIFE FOR MARLEY. IT COULD BE THE WALKS HE TAKES ON A LEASH....
(nats) "Sit. Good boy."
SITTING....
(nats)
SHAKING HANDS.
(nats)
AT 14 HIS CAT LIKE REACTIONS HAVE GIVEN WAY TO MORE OF A WADDLE BUT ONE THING IS FOR SURE.
WHEREVER MARLEY GOES A CHILD IS SOON TO FOLLOW.
(nats) "Can he come to our house? We don't got a kitty. We've only got a dog."
HE IS A HEAD TURNER. EVEN THE DOGS WHO SEEM TO HAVE ALL KINDS OF TROUBLE WALKING ON A LEASH CAN'T QUITE FIGURE HIM OUT.
(Reporter) "So is he part dog or what?"
(Stephen Miller, Marley's Owner) "Yes he is a puppy cat. Half dog, half cat. He's the best dog we have ever had."
HE IS ALSO A HEAD SCRATCHER.
AFTER ALL HOW MANY CATS LIKE TO TAKE A RIDE IN THE FRONT SEAT OF A CONVERTIBLE, OH AND THAT IS NOT ALL.
(Stephen Miller, Marley's Owner) "He likes roundabouts. All I have to do is tell him there is a roundabout coming and he puts his feet on the dashboard as you turn in into it and then he leans and I say we are going the other way and he turns the other way. Pretty amazing."
AND FOR MARLEY IT'S NOT THE JOURNEY...IT'S THE DESTINATION.
(nats) "Do you want to go for a ride on the swing?"
YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT.
THIS COOL CAT MAY KNOW HOW TO SIT, SHAKE, RIDE AND LEAN BUT ALL THAT IS JUST THE WARMUP ACT. HE'S ALSO A SWINGER.
(nats) "I think he likes it."
ONCE IT STARTS THE LITTLE ONES ABANDON EVERYTHING THE PLAYGROUND MAY HAVE TO OFFER TO GIVE HIM A PUSH. THEY AREN'T THE ONLY ONES LINING UP.
(nats) "I never thought I would see a cat in a swing. That would be a first."
THERE IS A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING WHICH DOES BEG THE QUESTION ABOUT HOW THIS JAW DROPPING EXPERIENCE EVER GOT STARTED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
(Stephen Miller, Marley's Owner) "I stuck him in one of those kid swings and he liked it."
(Reporter) "How can you tell the cat likes it?"
"He didn't jump out."
MARLEY JUST SEEMS TO GO WITH THE FLOW.
HIS PICTURE EVEN HANGS IN THE VILLAGE PIZZA PARLOR STEPHEN AND HIS WIFE JAN OWN AND RUN IN WESTFIELD WHICH SHOULD NOT COME AS A SURPRISE SINCE HE OFTEN SITS NEXT TO MILLER IN THE PARLOR AS HE PAINTS.
(nats) "Come on. All the way. "
(Reporter) "That is not as easy as it used to be."
(Stephen Miller, Marley's Owner) "Now sit. There you go."
(Reporter) "Now look at that. The cat that sat. Sounds like a book."
IT COULD BE ABOUT A MAN AND HIS PUPPYCAT WHO HAVE A LOT MORE IN COMMON THAN THEY LIKE TO LET ON.
(Reporter) "Whose tail is longer. His or yours?
(Stephen Miller, Marley's Owner) "I don't know. I never checked it. That made me laugh."
(Reporter) "His wags and yours doesn't do anything."
(Stephen Miller, Marley's Owner) "It just hangs around."
(nats)
WHICH IS WHAT THESE TWO DO BEST. HANG AROUND.
