New statistics show Northeast Ohio is seeing a drop in the number of opioid-related deaths. The decrease may be due to increased public awareness surrounding the opioid epidemic, wider availability of overdose reversal drugs such as Narcan, and less circulation of fentanyl and carfentanyl. Despite this seemingly positive trend, Dr. Thomas Gilson, Cuyahoga County's medical examiner, warns the crisis is far from over.
