The Cleveland Foundation's Anisfield-Wolf book awards are given annually to authors whose work addresses issues of racism and diversity. Past winners of the 83-year-old prize include Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Toni Morrison, Langston Hughes, and Margot Lee Shetterly. This year's winners run the gamut from a ghost story set in the Deep South to a deep dive into the history of humbug and hoaxes. To learn more about the 2018 honorees, ideastream's Rick Jackson spoke with Karen R. Long, manager of the awards for the Cleveland Foundation.
