There are roughly 15,000 children currently in Ohio's foster care system.
The Public Children Services Association of Ohio predicts that number will continue to rise -- and blames the opioid crisis.
But the number of foster and adoptive homes is only about 7,200 -- significantly less than the children in need.
That is why the Summit County Probate Court and Summit County Children Services are teaming up, hoping to recruit not only foster families, but families willing to go further and adopt eligible children.
