The Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland has introduced its next bishop - a man now serving as an auxiliary bishop on the east coast.
Pope Francis' appointment of Bishop Nelson Perez was announced this morning in Washington. He will be installed September 5.
The 56-year-old Miami native has served five years on New York's long island as auxiliary bishop of the Rockefeller center Diocese, and previously worked as a priest in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Former Cleveland Bishop Richard Lennon retired in December, citing health concerns.
