Some Ohio opioid addicts are turning to 'medication assisted treatment'

In the search for solutions to Ohio's opioid epidemic, some addicts are turning to something called "medication assisted treatment"; as a pathway to sobriety.

That treatment includes using prescription drugs such as methadone, which has been around for decades; suboxone, and the newest drug, vivitrol -- to help quell cravings and lessen withdrawal symptoms.

That helps prevent relapses.

In our continuing be well series on opioids, ideastream's Marlene Harris-Taylor examines vivitrol, and how it is providing hope for some addicts, who have tried option after option to get sober.
