Putting “imperfect” food to good use

When you take a trip to the grocery store, do you pass over that apple with a bruise? Or that orange that has a blemish? If you do, you're not alone.

40-percent of food produced in the United States goes uneaten. That's over 60 tons of wasted food each year according to the Harvard food law and policy clinic.

In Northeast Ohio, that statistic collides with the number of people who lack access to affordable, nutritious food.

Earlier this morning on the Sound of Ideas, heard on 90.3 WCPN and seen on the Ohio Channel, Rick Jackson spoke with a panel of locals working to address these concerns.

We join the conversation as congresswoman Marcia Fudge discusses new legislation that aims to make food donation easier.
