King James Tournament

The King James Shooting Stars Classic, named for Cavs star Lebron James, is considered one of the nation's pre-immenent amateur basketball tournaments.
This year's event brings more than 500 amateur teams of the best young players in America, from Toronto, to Miami, to as far off as Portland, Oregon. St. Vincent-St. Mary High School coach Dru Joyce, says college scouts and coaches from 200 schools - many of them basketball powerhouses, will be here to watch the young men play in nearly 11-hundred ballgames.
"The numbers are great, but more than numbers, what we want to have is the highest quality event we can have, and that's why people are coming back.

In past years, college scholarships have resulted for many players, including several current NCAA stars participating in this weekend's college championships . Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic was quick the Akron native, who Joyce coached, for the inspiration.
"He hasn't forgotten his hometown and he continues to do things to be able to help organizations here."

The Akron chamber of commerce estimates the economic impact of the tournament at five-and-a half to six million dollars, over three days beginning April 25th.
