Cleveland officials are clarifying reports about the ongoing technical problems at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, saying core business systems at the airport have not been affected. In a statement, the city said payroll, accounting and timekeeping operations were not compromised and remain fully functional. Problems remain, though, with the airport’s flight and baggage information screens and its email.
At least 268 people were killed and more than 3,000 injured by distracted drivers in Ohio over the last five years, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation. The report, from a task force formed last year, said there were more than 80,000 distracted driving-related crashes over that time and its authors blamed smart phones. The report's recommendations include spending more time discussing distracted driving during drivers’ education classes.
Ohio State’s Nick Bosa is going to the San Francisco 49ers after he was selected second in the NFL Draft’s overall pick. The defensive end follows in the path of brother Joey, who was a first-round pick at No. 3 overall in 2016. OSU quarterback Dwayne Haskins was picked up by the Washington Redskins at No. 15.
The Boston Bruins edged the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-2, in overtime at TD Garden to take Game One of their second round Stanley Cup playoff series. Charlie Coyle scored the winning goal just 5:15 into the extra time.
Trevor Bauer outdueled his former UCLA teammate, Gerrit Cole, to reach the eighth inning for the first time this season and lead the Indians to a 2-1 victory over the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. Bauer allowed just one run on four hits with three strikeouts.
