The leader of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, Nelson Perez, joined Pope Francis and millions of other Catholics in expressing sorrow and shock over the fire that has devastated Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Perez said he’s praying for the people of France over the loss of the “deeply spiritual place.”
Cleanup is underway in the Richland County city of Shelby, where a tornado struck Sunday. The county emergency management director said it was an EF 2 tornado with winds of 120 to 125 miles per hour that, at its widest point, was half a mile wide. He said five people were injured. No word on their condition.
Cuyahoga County’s highest-ranking official in its troubled Information Technology Department is resigning. Chief Technology Officer Michael Young offered no reason in his letter to the county. The department is under an ongoing corruption probe.
