In the fourth semi-annual report released by Cleveland’s consent decree monitoring team, they questioned whether the city has enough staff to oversee the adoption of police reforms.
Cleveland’s consent decree coordinator, Greg White, is the sole full-time staff member hired to oversee progress toward achieving all the police reforms it agreed to.
White said Thursday the city is evaluating whether more hires are needed.
“And I think the monitor acknowledged in his six-month report that we have a lot of people dedicated to working on this project, that meet regularly and discuss the compliance effort across the board," said White.
The consent decree process is nearing the three-year mark.
While the city has new use of force and crisis intervention policies in place, many of the requirements it agreed to are still in the early stages.
