After heavy snows this weekend and this morning, the City of Cleveland Public Works is continuing its city-wide snow removal operations.
According to the City’s Chief Operating Officer, Darnell Brown, the focus is on clearing main roads and then shifting to residential areas.
“If another front comes through, of course we’ll have to respond to that," said Brown. "Giving attention again to the primary, secondary roads, but all of our additional resources that we’ve brought on from Public Works, Utilities and our graders would remain in the residentials.”
Brown urged residents to be patient and acknowledged with the amount of snow received yesterday, between six to eighteen inches, it could take a while.
Director of Cleveland’s Public Works Department, Michael Cox, said that if another band of snow hits, the snow removal units will turn their efforts back to main and secondary roads until they are in fair to good conditions.
“ We want everybody to be patient on the residential streets as we come down we ask that everybody move their vehicles so we can get curb to curb," said Cox.
There is a city-wide parking ban issued for downtown until further notice.
There will be between 54 to 74 snow removal units working throughout the city to clear roads. The city currently has 33,000 tons of salt stored ready to be deployed if needed.
