(1) The "My Cat the Clown" bookstore in Aix-en-Provence, France, that offers the company of six resident cats among the books;
(2) Chibi the rescued sparrow, who was hand-raised by a Slovenian couple, and who refused to leave when set free in the wild;
(3) Smidge the Cockatiel from the U.K., who escaped from his travel cage, and who was found when heard singing his favorite tune, the theme from "The Addams Family";
(4) Haddie, the "Cotton Candy" lobster, a 1-in-100-million find by a Maine lobsterman. Haddie's opalescent pastel shell has permanently exempted her from consumption, and she will live out her days at a New Hampshire aquarium.
