CBS apologizes to Billy Joel fans for cutting Madison Square Garden concert short

MICHEL MARTIN, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Michel Martin. CBS is apologizing to fans of Billy Joel. They were all in a mood for a melody during a broadcast of his 100th live performance at Madison Square Garden, when right in the middle of Joel's signature tune "Piano Man," the network cut away for local news in the Eastern and Central time zones. Outrage followed. CBS says it was due to a programming error. I mean, yeah, but they'll make it up. They will rebroadcast the whole show this Friday night. It's MORNING EDITION.
